This is a watercolor portrait of Grandpa Jomes

Grandpa Jones watercolor portrait

This watercolor portrait of Grandpa Jones was inspired by my friend and banjo player extraordinaire, Jim Pankey (of the Hamilton County Ramblers). Hee Haw was required viewing in my home growing up and that is how I became aware of Grandpa Jones. I confess that I was not astute enough to appreciate this amazing entertainer at the time, but that has certainly changed over the years.  This portrait was created on a 22 by 36 sheet of Kilimanjaro watercolor paper using Cottman’s watercolor paints.
